tis the season to spend money
la la la la la la la la la
as of now, i have 1 ROM and 1 wedding dinner for the month of december.
on top of xmas shopping.
seriously, if we allow ourselves to step out of the xmas hype, one can see that xmas in singapore is very the commercialised. but the xmas hweel also comes from this commercialisation. (nb, is there such a word?)
to digress, i am starting to get fed up with paradoxes. like something that causes a wonderful thing to happen is also the beginning of the destruction of the same something.
ugh, i shall philosophise when the mood kicks in, like maybe one fine day.
back to topic.
hence, praise thelord advertising, late night shoppings and gift combos that lined the shelves. without all these and to rely on festive decorations alone, singapore wont be able to conjure up any xmas-y feeling. the frenzied shopping in an urban city like singapore adds to the buzz of xmas.
and it applies to every other major holiday over here.
so why do i like xmas?
because xmas induces the feeling of warm fireplaces, a nice armchair to curl up into and the snow. with a nicely-decorated xmas tree at a corner of the house with many presents waiting to be opened. the feast would just be over and the image of being able to prop my whole body with knees tucked up close on my favourite plush armchair warming myself at the fireplace in a sleeping gown with snow gently falling outside while feeling sleepy is damn fantastic.
wont be able to experience this kind of xmas in singapore. so have to make do with whatever that we have: the rain. -.-
so in order to feel less broke and more xmasy, hitting the novels seems to be a good idea.
ho ho ho

jj, did u 'allocate' any pressies for me in this the season to spend $? *blush*
Eh... don't go believing everything you see or hear. Thats just a marketing gimmick at work. Simi diamond is a girl's best friend, my big hairy foot!! The bloody rock doesn't even talk.
I'd call sanitary pads a girl's best friend cos you rely on it during your worse days and it touches your most intimate area.
mm:  u know hor, they always say present light lafu heavy heavy.......=P
very wise statement. diamonds are a girl's best friend is one of the biggest bull i have ever heard, but when everyone knows of this saying and more than half of the fairer sex believes in this, we have to lan lan applaud the success of this gimmick.
btw, u r jjg rite? lol.....
