Hero the movie 2007

Adapted from the official website: Hero (2007)

Asian movie star and idol, Takuya Kimura, returns to his highly acclaimed role as a high school dropout turned gifted pubic prosecutor in a major motion picture adaptation of "HERO", the TV series that broke the ratings charts!

The story follows the career of a young public prosecutor, Kohei Kuryu, who shirks suit and tie for a pair of jeans but is never casual about his pursuit for the truth.

Kuryu's youthful passion and dedication to his trade makes him an interesting contrast to his colleagues who have become only too accustomed to the stuffy and hierarchical realm of public prosecutors in Japan. Once past the initial dismay of Kuryu's unconventional ways, his colleagues gradually find themselves infected by his dedication and sense of mission. The movie picks up where the TV special left off but cranks up the intensity as only a feature film can with Kuryu returning from brief stints in the hinterland to help his colleagues at the "Josai" branch of the Tokyo Public Prosecutor's office face the stiffest challenge of their careers.

First airing in 2001, "HERO" became the most watched mini-series in Japanese television averaging viewer ratings of 34.3 percent. After a 5 year hiatus, Fuji Television Network brought "HERO" back last year with a triumphant two-hour special that once again captured a 30-plus percent television audience share and paved the way for a much-anticipated big screen transition.

trailer as below:

my takuya kimura's big screen sequel of hero the drama and it will be aired in SG as well. even though the Lee Byung-hun also damn big shot hailing from south korea, the focus will still be on my takuya kimura, can?

of course i am looking forward to watching it. and i can't resist the temptation to link back to my previous post on the variety show where smap members were held in "court". in it i is really bth the scene on how goro-kun was eagerly waiting for his jacket to appear on hero the drama: SmaCourt

nodame cantabile

yosh. have completed watching the show and commented as in zee forum. instead of hotlinking to the forum, i shall copy the whole thing here. believe me, i have my reason for doing so =P

i watched the drama and not the anime and according to comments, it does bring out the anime feel or did even better.

anyway this show is superb and in my history of watching jdoramas, it is one that combines so much of classical music into a drama and did a splendid job doing so. i especially loved it that in every episode, there is always some kind of performance or practising of piano pieces, be they good or sloppy. the show really makes classical music alive, vibrant and totally fun. especially the spinning of cellos during some of the more flamboyant orchestra performances.

plus having an extremely gorgeous male lead as a conductor is one huge plus point too. the female lead is cute and ultra comical without being over the top. in addition, the maestro hailing from germany who speaks japanese with a german/foreign accent is....i would use the term "amorously horrifying".

dozo!!

amazing isn't it?

and i accidentally stumbled upon the main leads as the guests for bistro smap. being an avid fan of kimura takuya, i of course have watched the drama engine. if they didnt mention about her acting in engine, i think i really have totally forgotten all about her taking on the role of the eldest kid among the abandoned kids in the shelter.

kimura takuya's expressions were indescribable upon seeing ueno's messy way of eating. ah, at that moment she must be still possessed by nodame lol

a very hungry tamaki hiroshi eating away and drifting off to his world, whatever ueno said did not register in his mind that moment. super lol!!

no matter how many times i watched it, there will still be the bwahahaha moments such as the nante???? of nakai-kun as he and goro-kun were taken aback by how kimura takuya could just enter lingerie shop with his co-star in engine koyuki-san to shop for ueno's birthday present. the way he imitated koyuki-san's mannerisms really cracked me up cos he really captured the tilt of the head and her somewhat detached way of speaking. and the same nante???? back by kimura-kun why they were so fascinated.

ueno's a bit the 傻大姐 pattern also caused many outbreaks of laughter from smap and hiroshi-kun's laid-back goofiness made his facial expressions really funny at times. both of their pattern a bit the blur blur type makes it more fun for smap to tease them and they took it in good stride (or maybe they were too blur to even get it LOL). entertaining enough to watch over and over again.
