picked up my blog

the last post was back in 2009.

and here i am again, picking my blog back again. simply because i'm too lazy to go set up a new blog and i feel like rattling off.

for formality's sake, i want to take the opportunity to do a stock take on the changes in my life since 2009.
  • gotten my own house
  • moved on to a new job
  • got married
  • took up driving lessons and put them on a hiatus for the time being
  • changed my phone for the better and for the worse
  • gotten my LV bag and wallet
  • learned how to play golf
  • took up a yoga membership
  • learned how to apply eyeshadows and stick fake eyelashes
uh uh that's quite a lot of stuff isn't it? and i thought i lead a boring life.

then again, in many senses, boring is good - stable life and choosing the kind of excitement that i want, not having unwanted surprises.

the biggest unwanted surprise for now has to be the earthquake in Japan. it has got to be the worst calamity in decades. and how their resilience really struck us.

in my work, i need to communicate with the Japanese almost everyday. just 1-2 hours after the earthquake shook their earth on Mar 11, they told us that they are still alive with the cute (^_<) emoticon. even until now, they carry on working. how is it like, i wonder? amidst the chaos in their country and living in uncertainty, they just keep going on. it's just really admirable.

oh i forgot to insert a picture before i logged out just now.

help the animals that are also victims to the japan earthquake too!

once again

everytime when i blog after a hiatus, it'll be the same thing like, "oh i've not blogged for so long." Or "back with a vengeance sort of shit". something like that.

actually i think, i think i shall try to blog more often, really. so that i can hmmmmmm, attempt to make my ordinary life sound eventful. not that i hate being ordinary, i just sort of dislike the mundane routine that accompanies it.

after seeing some issues and observing some behaviourial patterns, i really do believe that being ordinary is a blessing. It just means that my life is generally quite ok, no big ups and downs, unless i really want to magnify them. Then again, doing that makes me feel stupid. Perhaps it's facebook's and twitter's fault. pictures are over at the former and anal "twit-bytes" <-- (hey, did i coin a new term myself?)go to the latter.

hmm, see, with just a bit of rambling here and there, a brand new blog entry is formed.

till the next time, ^w^

and oh, at the very least, i must continue to set a standard. meaning i must insert a picture.

unrelated

no coffee no talk.

next tue is gonna be mind-blowing no thanks to a certain unrealistic minion whose decisions and actions, unfortunately, affects me and this time round many many people. totally crazy but it'll be good to see what comes out of it.

i'm obsessed with a sandwich vending machine. egg and cheese is good.

firefox rox, but still....

i was trying to make payment for my final theory test and failed. subsequently i realised that it was because i was using my default browser FF which is not able to support that website's payment protocol. it can only support IE.

tsk, it is most annoying that there are still web portals, especially those of non-private organisations, that do not support FF.

don't they know that FF is so much less prone to virus attacks and makes web surfing safer online? zzzzzzzzz, maybe there is something about IE and web payment technological jitters that i have no idea about. or maybe it's time to send the web support teams behind these organisations for training already. respond to the government's call for retraining already.....c'mon.

hence picture of the day:

first post of the moolah year

i know it's a cow, but its gaze seems filled with meaning.

in this year of the ox, i would like to wish everyone that i think fondly of, a very happy new year and may you be as healthy as an ox. and for those that i don't think fondly of, .......... having a somewhat angelic heart, i certainly don't wish for misfortune to befall you. hopefully these people will come to realize their unlovable traits in the year of the ox. and yes, do something about it, before you become truly unbearable.

my new year visiting will only commence on the 2nd day of CNY and today, it is more of a worming day where i was wrapped snugly under my blanket while looking at the sunlight that made its way into the bedroom, musing over random thoughts that did not have any links to one another. some of them were totally weird, but entertaining all the same.

when my dad flicked on the tv to mediacorp's channel 8, the trailer of some alternative ending related to little nyonya came on, successfully irritated my dad and me. while i didn't watch the show other than snippets of it while channel surfing, its over-exposed pre-and-post publicity stunts certainly made me aware of the drama's existence without having had to undergo the actual act of sitting through any episode. initially, i was glad that a mediacorp drama was so well received. after a while, it became incessant droning to the stage of irritation. like mediacorp has no other show that they can rely on to boast about anymore. tsk.

aural told me the other day of koko's mishap that involved a tissue box. apparently the fat ass got himself stuck after a brand new hole other than the original opening has been successfully created in the tissue box to allow access. however it was only large enough to accommodate the upper half of his body as he waged through the opening. and got himself extremely stuck at the midriff cos his ass was too fat to push forward AND backward. the poor bastard screeched alarmingly with its might and caught the attention of aural who was minding his own business in the house. thinking that the 2 hamsters were fighting, he hurried to take a look to find momo minding his own business and koko in that compromised position. aural had to pick up the tissue box and shook koko out of the trap in order to free it. -.- as hilarious the story sounded, it was actually a very dangerous situation for a hamster to be in, as koko might have just died due to screeching his lungs out or in great fright if aural had not been at home. from that day onwards, we no longer put any empty tissue box for them to play anymore.

do you know that heineken tastes better than tiger beer? but my fav beer is still budweiser after so long. however, heineken is more affordable if we are talking about substantial consumption. so, offers to install a tap of unlimited budweiser will be greatly welcome!

and happy moo(lah) year again. hopefully more moolah making its way, which is rather bleak considering the current worsening economy....

zzmm's wedding

such a happy occasion. pictures of zzmm's hen night and big day are finally up and looking through them brings back happy memories of all the fun.

after all, it's my virgin jiemei-ism and hence, all the more memorable. =D

in the morning of the actual day, i was introduced to calista who has very nice hair and is a pretty little girl who knows how to play the piano and eats biscuits with milo. she can also create a din easily on and without demand XD

during the dinner, after the prawn with brandy made its debut in rubber and mrs teo's wedding dinner, the prawn and brandy made its second appearance and this time round, liyan had taken the front view of the prawn's face. the prawn is one of the most disgruntled prawns, if not the most disgruntled one that i have ever seen. =X

it is also my first virgin ta-ing of brandy, courtesy to orh eh who made me ta with zzmm and connie. how scheming, he probably felt that while he was ta-ing away with unkel solid, unkel huat, et, mnm, etc, the compelling need to volunteer his better half to ta with the ladies struck him, that his better half's usual beer drinking is not enough. (´;ω;`) since he ended up hugging the toilet bowl while nursing a back pain, ore wa, as the one with the bigger stomach capacity shall forgive him.

la la la la la, so much fun one.

cat diary

i received a forwarded email of the cat and dog diary and while the dog diary is absolutely boring, the cat diary amuses me endlessly. i have thus decided to insert googled images as this diary unfolds.........

CAT DIARY

Day 983 of my captivity. My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed cold hash or some sort of dry nuggets. Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength. The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape. I plan as I stare from the window...

In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet.

Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates what I am capable of, however they merely made condescending comments about the 'nice gift' and what a 'good little hunter' I am.

Bastards!

There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of 'allergies.' I must learn what this 'allergies' means, and how to use it to my advantage.

Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow...but at the top of the stairs.

I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches. The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released - and seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously retarded.

The bird has got to be an informant. I regularly observe him communicating with the guards in their language. I am certain that he reports my every move. My captors have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell, so he is safe. For now..........

but as i googled for pictures, it turns out that someone had beaten me to it a long time ago. bleah, i guess so much for originality.......

no, i must be positive and think this way: great minds think alike.

so deluded.

siam kitchen and lexean

today was once again, yet another gathering that consists of the witches + mermaid - vampiress as she is currently overseas. originally i had plans for stephy to make her debut to this "unoccult cult", but she was not able to make it. in the meantime as ah jie's idea, we shall help to think up an alias for her. elf? orh eh suggested snow white cos she is so fair, but it is not really in tune with what we have so far, so it shall be shelved under to-be-further-discussed section.

it was quite a darn heavy dinner, but the siam kitchen food was quite nice especially the tom yum soup, green curry and fish prawn cakes *gulp*, so the cult came out full and satisfied and badly in need of a pee. despite the disappointment that my fav magazine will only arrive at kinokuniya tomorrow, there was this one particular magazine that caught my eye, largely due to the unusual cover and i present to you: the LEXEAN magazine. and the other reason for purchase is because i know nothing about this magazine, other than the name itself. and i was very curious about it.

haven't read through the magazine yet, but i think i am in for a feast of interesting articles, largely on political figures and technology after a brief browse-through of the editorial and hilarious, yet tastefully done illustrations. this mystery magazine turned out to be a surprisingly good find. even though i have a hunch that it is a men's magazine cos there are only splashes of men's executive fashion right at the end.........._.

typing with cold hands

today is hari raya haji, 8 December 2008 and for this public holiday, i am holed up at home. maybe later going to look for the bridesmaid dress for the morning session on zzmm's big day on the 18th!!

go-kekkon omedetou gozaimasu in advance. the evening dress has been settled, cos the colour is easier to find =D

actually, i have bought another dress, close to the morning session's required colour but don't think it will be quite suitable. nonetheless i liked the dress very much and will keep it for some other occasion. like the old saying goes: a woman can never have too many clothes.

today's weather is rather cold, with the rain and lack of sun the entire day. plus with my ass glued to the floor, can feel the coldness even more.

does it mean xmas is really coming? =)

obama, soup spoon and camera whoring

Woo hoo, change is here! Obama just got elected as next US president, it is also a sign that beckons me to make a comeback after a hiatus.

Nothing has changed, I still like to watch anime. Other than working hard to earn a living, the rest of my life is represented by a single word: NUA, which translates to soft, meaning being a worm. I am not a neat freak; a bit of untidiness is cozy and I seldom pay attention to my diet. I just eat whatever I feel like eating till my stomach is full.

Recently, I came to like Soup Spoon a lot. My first virgin soup spoon trip was weeks ago with ah jie, fl and mermaid. In that first visit, I had a grande-sized Meatless Minestrone with Gremolata combo meal with half a indochine prawn wrap with lays potato chips. Needless to say, it was stupendously satisfying for a little over $10. And for today, I had a regular-sized velvety mushroom stroganoff sans the meal. It turned out to be a wise choice cos the soup was so delightfully thick. Wheeee~~

I’m not really a camera whore, so I didn’t take any pictures.

Coming to that, I saw many interesting pictures taken by many friends on facebook that can make little things look fun. But when I try to do the same, I will feel so duh. One part of me thinks that it’ll be an interesting photo-log of food but the other part of me feels that well, it’s only food, what’s there to take? And the latter mode tends to be dominant most of the time.

***

The real truth is I don’t own a camera and my camera phone is lousy so I have no motivation to take pictures. And I'm always peeved about something so my pictures always turn out lousy. Can? ~.~

hmpf.

Drivers who are just plain rogues.

While getting stuck in the car queue outside the car park at plaza sing, a bastardious vehicle succeeded by cruising by us on the left lane and jumped the queue, attempting to cut into our car queue on his right. One moron who was a few cars ahead of us really gave way to the bastard. What the hell, if it were me, I would have pressed on my horn, come to a stop, get my passenger to roll down the window and screamed at him to get lost and queue up. Really! Singaporeans are too meek when it comes to this kind of thing. I hope his car gets vandalized soon. He so deserves it.

After managing to get a purple lot, we saw another cockanathan who parked his vehicle there without the purple decal. Oi, that could have denied another fellow purple decal holder the lot ok? So we went to the information counter to provide feedback, only to be informed that the vehicle owner could have the right to park there and not having received the decal yet, stating some sms confirmation. Oh well, fine, but aren’t you guys going to confirm whether the stupid Mercedes have the right to park there? Then again, I guess they are either too lazy to do that, or rather not stir trouble by incurring the wrath of the shopping mall customer. Or maybe after we left feeling disgruntled, they have actually radioed the relevant staff to do the confirmation already. By the time we were done and returned to the car, the Mercedes was already gone.

Maybe we were too shit-stirring, but I am sure fellow purple car decal holders would have felt the pinch some time or another when they see an unauthorized vehicle taking up the lot that they have the absolute right to instead of the bugger. Right?

on the myanmar cyclone and sze chuan earthquake

i seriously wonder what was running in the minds of the junta, insisting that they can take care of their country and people in this disaster, adamant to refuse all foreign entrants and only after a period then are they willing to let foreign aid trickle in.

*the junta might be aiding!*

say! where is the proof that they can so take care of their people? maybe they are and are doing a good job for all you know. but no foreign media is there to cover it; even their state media is also not permitted to cover it. presumably, they felt that any form of media coverage is purely propaganda and will twist their hard work into circus acts due to their unflattering history. it is also likely that they uphold the belief that one must not brag about good deeds being done. *rolls eyes at desperate attempt to sound less accusatory against the junta at this point*

*on a more realistic note*

in comparison to myanmar's bleak situation, sze chuan's earthquake has a more optimistic touch, with so much support pouring to the area within the country. in the eyes of the observers, the situation in sze chuan is not as worrisome as the one in myanmar.

such a vast difference in disaster management speaks volumes of the governing regimes of the countries. while one has clearly placed priority on saving civilians, the other one just bodes a ominous future for the people under the rule whose priority on saving civilians is a distant second to the affairs of the military government, which really is so ironic, if they were to have an item on the welfare of the myanmar people as part of their agenda. i tell you i will snort so hard until all my phlegm goes straight to my head.

the latest news from yahoo/AP on myanmar junta warning against hoarding cyclone aid will enrage the hell outta all readers on this piece of information:

The group (meaning New York-based Human Rights Watch)also said it had confirmed an Associated Press report this week that the junta took control of high-protein biscuits supplied by the international community and then distributed low-quality, locally produced substitutes to civilians.

*what if the press is manipulating?*

i swear if this is really affirmative, it will really boil the blood of every single person reading the piece of news. controversially, it could be the very objective of the press to turn the international players and watchers against the junta by playing up the negativities of the junta. after all, majority of the US press seem to have the concept that democracy is the way to go and will not hesitate to slam views that indicate otherwise, and the junta fits the bill of everything that is not democratic.

a nation can never live in isolation, and myanmar's junta is a live example proving this theory true, especially more so if it is a poverty-stricken nation. for all we know, as i have suggested (albeit the snorting and rolls-eyes commentaries) earlier on, the junta could indeed have been providing aid. but due to infrastructure restrictions and lack of a strategic game plan, they are unable to reach out far enough to the people. but being so adamant to operate in isolation, doing things their own way without address and explanation, it will only serve to subject itself to judgmental calls on their actions, often viewed negatively if they refuse to offer any reasoning, that alienates the government from the rest of the world, causing their people to continue to suffer at the end of the day.

perhaps this disaster has opened up more cans of worms in the political situation of myanmar, indicating change is necessary. though painful, and more blood could be spilled in the near future due to the possible political unrest, it could be the spark plug leading to a better tomorrow for the people of myanmar. yet again, if handled incorrectly, myanmar will nosedive into a worse situation than before.

Boyboy

my forum towkay posted a thread to link to hardwarezone, in an appeal to spread the message to help boyboy. in addition to towkay's call for help, i also want to advocate that this is a genuine case, guarantee + chop is not a hoax, cos i myself did the verification and contribution of $$.

the little thing is continuing to live on after being saved from drowning with his stronger brother, despite having a heart condition and weighs only 680gm. it's still very very young to undergo the operation which costs approximately $3,000.00, so in the meantime, the kindhearted forumer xKeithx's wife is trying to get as many donors to chip in $$ for the operation. a bigger problem now is that she herself is very pregnant and will have no time to look after boyboy when her baby girl arrives approx 1 month later, so will need someone to adopt boyboy, then when it grows until 5-6 months old --> go for operation --> ?

link is here
and more details as below:

Hi all, 2 weeks ago my friend saved 2 puppies from drowning, they had lost their mummy.. I am now taking care of them.. But unfortunately 1 of the puppy is very sick now.. I am not working so i cant afford to pay his medical bill, but i have discussed with my friend, i am very upset that i think she is not going to let this poor puppy to receive any medical treatment because the vet told me the puppy is very weak, he may die, so i feel that she doesnt want to "waste" the $ treating him..

and she keeps asking y suddenly the puppy like that, as if i want him to fall sick.. And even thinking not to pay his bill since she is the one who found them and pass to me ask me to help them to look for people to adopt them.. I have found someone to adopt them, but when the person know that the puppy is very sick, he refused to take him already..

I am giving birth in June, and i am not working, so its very hard for me to pay his bill.. I have paid a $300 deposit, but i am not sure when can he goes home, so the bill might just accumulate.. The vet does not know what illness is he suffering from yet.. My friend found the puppies on 15/04/08, and I pick the puppies from my friend on 18/04/08, but on the 25/4/08/, the puppy started to lose his appetite, and has not pass motion for 2-3 days..

He did not drink milk at all, i tried to force feed him but he spit out everything, on the 27/04/08 i brought him to Mt pleasant clinic at east coast road, the vet put laxative inside his butt and he finally poo.. And the vet ask me to give him glucose and vitamins to see if he gets better, but after 2 days, he is still very weak, and yesterday i brought him to the Mt pleasant animal hospital..

He has been hospitalised.. The vet deworm the puppy and is now feeding him every 2 hrs to see if he gets better.. Last night i called the vet to check how is the puppy doing, she told me he was doing quite well that he drinks the milk himself from the saucer.. But this morning when i called again, she said he did not eat or drink again..

I just visit the puppy in the afternoon, the puppy lick my hand when he saw me, i am so sad that i cant do anything to help him.. He even cried (i took the video of him crying).. it breaks my heart.. I talk to the vet and he says he wants to do a blood test for him, but he is too small (550gm), they only manage to get 1-2 drops of blood from him which is not enough for him to do the test..

They will try again tonight or tomorrow.. And if the test shows that his blood count is low, they might want to do a blood tranfusion for him.. I really hope he will recover and also hope that if any one can help him? Any amount.. I will scan the bill, pictures, video of the sick puppy and send to those who wish to donate for his medical bill..

i hereby declare that i am totally useless when it comes to suffering animals and will wail my eyes out so i'm not watching and posting the video here. so if you want to watch, then visit the saveboyboy blog.

please help save the little thing by registering in hardwarezone forum if you don't already have an account and pm xKeithx to donate and/or willing to adopt boyboy!

chinese new year

what is chinese new year without the 2 words "huat ah!!!"? huat, for the gambling that is bound to take place and, for the general well being for the rest of the new year.

that aside, i have to say that i like and dread cny at the same time, because i have a penchant for falling sick just before cny. 2006 cny marked my very first stomach flu, 2007 cny saw the recurrence of a slight urinary tract infection and as of 2008 now; tomorrow being cny eve, it is the common flu bug annoying me. at least for this year, i am not alone: my mum and my sis are also afflicted with the same fate as me.

it seems like cny has never been exactly auspicious for me, why?

nonetheless, i still will like to wish everyone a Happy Chinese Year in the year of the ngiao ci (Rat).

before i get into trouble, i would like to disclaim ownership of that picture: i stole it off the internet for an honest to goodness chuckle.

on a less cheeky note,

may all of us huat ah!!!!

patagonia

my new bag. saw it at queensway shopping centre and can say fell in love at the first sight. then i saw the brand and 我不认识的 and how come not adidas not crumpler not nike why cost 100+. then see closer the material and cutting like quite dare like that. the shopkeeper came to me and said this one is US brand. then retail price is US79 which actually converts to about SGD134 but he dont dare to put so expensive so slash it to SGD129 then slash again to SGD109. i looked at the label and it's those pro pro type one, so i decided to get it and asked uncle to lower price somemore. he told me SGD103. i told him "wah uncle 103 u might as well gimme 100 lor". then settled at SGD100. uncle even say simi help him promote. promote my head ah, sekali he close shop then i mmm si 没戏唱?

quite risky leh, somemore the brand no hear before and so expensive. but somehow i kind of trust my instincts that it is worth it. if the label is nike or adidas with the same design and material, it would definitely cost even more. then browsed through the website and found that 好像very ok. at least the tag is legitimate cos the website show the price also same same de.

half mass bag

hee.......treat it as my birthday present for myself. cannot afford Loewe, this one buey pai le....

that time happily went to check out the price of the Loewe bag that i thought is nice and found the price tag to be even nicer. smelly smelly 4 digits. my mind went ninabeh......LV same size one also not that expensive....&%#@^
